Local Intimate Fall Wedding | Katie & George
At the beginning of the pandemic, we all were hopeful the situation would be short lived. Many spring and summer brides delayed their weddings to the fall of 2020, and many already-booked fall brides weren’t worried. Everyone thought the madness would pass in a couple of weeks, then maybe only a couple of months maximum, and we’d be “back to normal” in time for the fall wedding wave.
As we all know, that wasn’t the case. Now, even fall 2021 weddings might be impacted.
This local couple, Katie and George, had their wedding during the first fall season of the pandemic. They endured the changes to their day with such grace, and created such an amazing and memorable day even though they couldn’t be surrounded by all of their friends and loved ones.
The thing that shines through their pictures, I realized, is a love for Red Deer and this beautiful area we live in. There are so many places showcased in these pictures that those local to Red Deer will see and not be able to hold back a smile..
I went to high school with Katie here in Red Deer, and we have an equal appreciation for a lot of the local spots here in the city, there are a ton of hidden gems. In these photos you’ll see pit stops at the “it” landscape, Canyon Ski Resort, and everyone’s favourite little ice cream shop!
Not only was there some local showcasing in the photos, but the beauty of the day was brought to life by some amazing local businesses. The florals were done beautifully, as always, by Calyx Floral Design. Katie looked stunning, and her beauty was enhanced by none other than Hair and Makeup by Skye, one of my faves in the industry to collaborate with!
The day not only looked beautiful, but there was a beyond beautiful moment I got to capture. Their small wedding was held at Katie’s dad’s farm just outside of Red Deer, with her two brothers by her side as her “bridesmen”. These details already made the day extremely special and sentimental. But then, it got even more special. Those in attendance got let in on some pretty big news. On their wedding day, Katie and George revealed to their family that they were expecting!
Katie and George are now the proud parents of their first baby boy, August. I even had the pleasure of shooting his newborn photographs. I have absolutely loved being with these two in their full circle of life changing moments!
