Gorgeous backyard wedding | Chloe & Stuart

Chloe & Stuart had originally planned a big wedding in Edmonton, Alberta. Then 2020 happened and it changed their plans. Like many couples this year, Chloe and Stuart were faced with the dilemma of what type of wedding they were going to have in the midst of a global pandemic. They opted to have a gorgeous backyard wedding in their hometown of Red Deer. Chloe’s mom offered up her exquisite home, beautiful flowers from Calyx floral were spread out, and amazing food was served.

This wedding was the first wedding I photographed after having my son. The very first time I left him (other than running to the grocery store). At only 9 weeks postpartum I was nervous I was going to miss him terribly. I of course did, but being surrounded by such genuine people and witnessing the love these two had for each other made it all worth it!

The day started off with me arriving to Chloe’s mom’s house. The girls were just finishing their hair and makeup and oh my gosh they looked good! Her dress was simple yet so modern and chic. And she had a cape. Yup a cape. SO COOL! She also had a veil! Girl after my own heart! you know I love my veil shots! The ceremony was short, sweet, and surrounded with their closest friends and family. After family portraits we headed to Canyon Ski hill to take photos. The sun was high that day and it gave off the perfect glow.

The evening was warm and peaceful as we sat under a white tent in the backyard. We ate the most delicious dinner, drank wine, I chatted with guests, and I left the wedding feeling very grateful. Grateful to have be a part of their day and grateful that I was able to have an excuse to get out of my mom clothes and feel human again! COVID didn’t stop these two from sharing their love and having the most gorgeous backyard wedding.
